Marvel Universe LIVE!

I have talked about how my kids are fun to be around lately.  I am not sure I have mentioned what great travelers they are.  I know it’s “easier” these days to travel with kids since we have a lot of mobile things for them to do in vehicles and on airplanes but I honestly do not hear very many “are we there yet”s.  I do how ever get the “how many miles” question a few times since they know I have the navigation on in the van.  But for the most part, they do not complain too much and a few hour trip is not a big deal to them at all.

One of the reasons I decided to take them to New Orleans last week to see Marvel Universe LIVE! is because I know they are great travelers.  As a matter of fact, as we waited for the hotel valet to bring our car around on Friday morning, they made themselves right at home at the lobby computer and enjoyed watching a Superman/Batman video in the few minutes it took for him to return.  I had nothing to do with them finding said video.

And it’s no secret that our family likes super heroes (yes, even K. Whatcha gonna do when you have two older brothers…?)  We were thrilled to be invited to the pre-party before the show and had the opportunity to meet some of the people in the show, including the guy who played Iron Man, another guy who played Spiderman (he was great!) and the woman who played Black Widow.  The kids were totally stoked.  (well, especially the boys).  They also made their own “shields” and feasted on their favorite snacks as they mingled with the stars of the show.

We had great seats for the show and the kids had “ants in their pants” before it started since they were so excited!

I have to say, the show was pretty awesome!  Tons of action, great special effects and some really cool motorcycle stunts.  This show is the first ever live Marvel touring event and includes over 25 super heroes in an original storyline, including Captain American, Iron Man, Spiderman and villains like Red Skull. It really is taking the live show experience to a whole new level with aerial stunts, and state of the art projection mapping that is 130 feet wide (see first photo).  I was quite impressed with that part!  Some of the stunts were movie quality including a close proximity car chase and unique pyrotechnics. And there was even a “life-sized” Hulk (this you gotta see!)

The kids really enjoyed watching their favorite Marvel Super Heroes along side The Avengers, go up against threatening villains and come alive in this action-packed arena extravaganza!  We certainly felt the energy in the room and it was just really amazing to see the stunts live.

I recommend it for all ages, and even Mom & (especially) Dad will enjoy it, I promise!

If you have super hero fans in your household you really should not miss out on this one!  My kids are still talking about how “cool” and “awesome” it was and asked if we could go see it again. I would say yes, but this time their Dad would have to take them… 🙂
