“It’s No Accident” / Giveaway

First of all, let me say that I am writing this post and promoting this book because I truly hope that it will  help another child/parent/family resolve “potty” issues that could actually be pretty serious if not addressed.

One of the children in my house has had potty “issues” for some time.  I won’t mention which one by name but he just turned 8 so you can figure it out on your own.

Anyway, this child has had problems properly and regularly going #2 for quite a while years.
During the Mardi Gras holidays while my parents were here, he had an awful episode and was he just not able to do his business.  He was doubled-over with stomach cramps, not wanting to eat and well, just needed to POOP.
Not to mention, he had been wetting the bed at least 2 or 3 nights a week previous to this, which is not something really in the norm for a child of his age.
My mother mentioned to me that she felt really bad for him and starting asking a few questions like, how often does this happen and this badly and what do you think is WRONG?
It had sort of become commonplace in our house so when she asked what was wrong a little light went off in my head.
Yes, he was the only one in our house with this problem and like I said it’s been ongoing for a while…
Also the week or so before that most recent episode I had gotten an email in my inbox about a book called IT’S NO ACCIDENT: Breakthrough Solutions To Your Child’s Wetting, Constipation, UTI’s and Other Potty Problems.

Because some of these things sounded oh-so-familiar I decided I would take a gander at the book (and it was gratis, so…)
Anyway, after reading most of it and putting part of it into practice I’m here to tell you all right now that this book SAVED my son’s bowels and my sanity.
Turns out his bed wetting issues had everything to do with the fact that he was chronically constipated and it totally makes sense that the “stuff” clumped up in his bootie (yes, I’m pretty sure he had a bunch stuck up there…) was pressing on his bladder, right?
Right.
So, an intense day of many Miralax doses and continued daily use has made ALLLLLL the difference.  In the last weeks he’s only wet the bed once and he is “going” every day, just like he should. Not to mention “it” looks like it should.  Yes, the book DOES go there… but hey, it is really good information to have so…
Turns out more children that we think have this problem and many times it is mistaken for the child having other problems or being stubborn or immature.  Did you know that 30% of children 2-10 are chronically constipated?  And one in four 5 year olds has a problem with bed wetting?
I personally had no idea.
And I felt like a pretty bad mother for not trying to find a solution sooner but I just thought he was an “irregular” kid in this department.  Boy was I wrong.
I’m so glad I paid attention to the email for this book and I would recommend it to ANYONE with a child with any of these unresolved issues.
I’m giving away a copy of this very informative book so leave ANY comment (does NOT have to be related to potty problems) if you want to win one. I know this is kind of a touchy subject but if it’s something you or someone you know could use or you just want to be informed, please enter.  I mean it when I say that it REALLY helped my son.  And this book could be just the thing needed for another child to get things going again.  🙂
I want to thank Dr. Hodges for getting this issue out in the open with his book and for personally answering my questions in an email.
Giveaway runs until end of the day, April 18th when a winner will be selected via random.org.  Open to U.S entrants only. Please make sure I have a way to get in touch with you should you win.

*The book also covers information on UTIs and other potty problems, but the constipation issue was the main one for us.  I was given one copy to read myself and am offering another book for a reader.  No other compensation was received for this post and all opinions are my own.
