He Ran Out to Get What Could Be Our 500th Tube Since We Got Married

We put the Christmas tree up on Saturday. We (meaning I) kept it pretty simple this year and didn’t even put EVERY.SINGLE ornament on the tree. Since our entire living room is 18 inch tiles I bought a VERY large piece of felt to put under the tree and am hoping (and praying) that it will protect my breakable ornaments should they somehow find their way off of the tree.

(and with two young boys in the house, one being a “bull in a china shop” toddler, I’m sure y’all can imagine some of the ways that those ornaments might end up coming/falling/making their way off the tree…)

The boys put themselves in charge of decorating the bottom part of the tree as I unpacked the “safe” ornaments (a.k.a non-breakables and ones that I don’t care about that much…). When I turned around the bottom 2 feet of the tree was covered with ornaments already. It left me quite puzzled as to why toy clean-up can’t happen that fast. Hmmmm…

Next thing I knew The B Man was coming to me with a ceramic ornament that he painted 2 years ago at a paint-your-own-pottery place. He was about to cry because the top of Santa’s hat had come off SOMEHOW and soon Little G was under intense interrogation (by big brother).

Instead of taking time to ask how it happened I jumped to the solution and asked Tim where the super glue was.

He hollered back that he had no idea and that he would pick some up when he went out for something else in a bit. Oh that’s right, when he went out for our gingerbread lattes. But I digress…

So then I wondered. How many tubes of super glue has my husband “ran out” to get in the last several years? I mean EVERY. SINGLE. TIME we need it he goes out to get another tube. We can never find the last one we used. I do believe there must be a massive collection of super glue tubes that has yet to be discovered. Somewhere.

Maybe even if we found them we’d still have to go out and get new because the cap is probably super-glued to the tube anyway, right?

And to be honest, I’m wondering if Tim even knows what happened to the one that he just bought the other day, which he successfully used to repair Santa’s hat.

So tell me, what’s something around your house that you have to buy new every time you need it? And please, don’t say chewing gum because, DUH! (although I would hope that YOU would need new chewing gum every time because if not, um Ewwww…).

And in other news we had a little of this in SOUTHERN Louisiana this weekend. WHAT is up with that?
