You Capture – Depth of Field

May 20, 2010 by Elaine

I’m still learning how to use my camera. Most of it is experimentation, I’ll admit. And that is no different with this week’s You Capture ‘assignment.’ I just played around with the camera until I kinda figured it out. Except for the first and last pics. They were taken last week. But still.

And most of these have a clear subject at the forefront and blurry background, except the last one. And it’s not necessarily a wonderful photo but I like that it’s opposite.

These are great, and I think my fave pic is the last one. It emits the most emotion for me…like he is longing for the bike out there, even though he already has one.

I am most terrible at depth of field shots. They come out clear in the whole picture! Send hints!

The last one is my favorite.

  23. Jen says

    May 20, 2010 at 2:54 pm

Vey nice! For those who need some hints about dof, the lower the number on your f. stop on you camera, the blurrier the background. For example: f. 8 will not be blurry, f. 4.5 will be blurry, f. 1.8 will be really blurry.
