WW – Hand-Me-Downs

March 24, 2010 by Elaine

I recently cleaned out the boys’ closet, taking many things to the resale shop and to charity. I also bought some new clothes for them, especially The B Man, and a few things for Little G, although he’s mostly wearing The B Man’s hand-me-downs.

When I switched out sizes for Little G the other day, and found things that The B Man used to wear at this age, it was a little heart-wrenching. Just to think that my oldest, who’s almost six years old, wore these things half of his life ago.

And ONE SHIRT in particular stood out to me. Because when my first boy was three he adored Thomas the Tank Engine. I mean LOOOOVED all things Thomas.

Ate. Breathed. Slept. You know…

And now his brother is sporting the same shirt. And in all honesty it doesn’t seem quite right for him to be wearing it. I have so MANY memories of my BEN in that shirt. It’s almost as if it should have been framed and hung above his bed or something.

But instead, yesterday I took it off the hanger and put it on Little G and when he saw it he smiled the biggest smile and exclaimed, “It’s Thomas!!”

Looks like there are many more wonderful memories with this shirt yet to come…

And HEY! Check out my giveaway for natural, organic, tasty cereal!

I know just how you feel! When I pass down my older boys clothes to the younger I can’t help but remember the first life of those clothes and look forward to the next!

    So cute!
I’m just about to go through the boxes of clothes from Noah and pass them on to Jude.

That brought tears to my eyes! I love how clothes come to life again. Right now my little girl is wearing the striped pants I adored on her big sister and it’s so fun to experience that all over again.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE that picture! It is kidness captured and it’s perfect.

All of Evie’s hand me downs go to my neice and I LOVE seeing them on her. It’s like holding on to Evie as a baby for a little longer.

Hand-me-downs are fantastic. It’s especially nice seeing a well-loved item (like a Thomas shirt) get loved again.

    Cute picture- cute little man!

I gave lots of Kamden’s out grown clothes to a friend for her son. I LOVED seeing the baby things on him, it reminded me of both Jack and Kamden. But I know what you mean, sometimes, it was like, dude, why you wearing my baby’s clothes!

Great picture of G – man he is a handsome little guy!

Some of the dresses Nadia now wears were worn by my older sister, me, my younger sister, and at least one of my nieces. Talk about lots of memories!
