Through the Lens – Assignment 1

July 4, 2008 by Elaine

I think I mentioned that I hope to learn to take better pictures with my camera (a Canon S5 is) with the help of this blogger, Hallie over at From the Rubber Room. Every couple of weeks we have a new assigment for our “course” “Through the Lens: Digital Photogrpahy 101” and for the first one we were supposed to read our camera’s manual.

Wouldn’t you know that my camera has 2 manuals? An easy one and an “advanced” one. I read all of the easy one (well, yeah… that was easy!) and then got to the more advanced stuff and let’s just say, some of it is a little um… advanced for me. Hmph.

I did learn a little more about the zoom functions and so I present a picture of some flowers in my backyard as my first completed assignment (due today – hope I am not too late!)

Thanks again Hallie, for helping educate us more and I can’t wait to find out what the next homework is! (I do believe that is THE first time I have ever said that…)

Ha! How neat–I had decided recently too that I wanted to learn how to take better pictures with our camera (Nikon D300). My husband is a technology buff and buys the best without even knowing how to use it! Well, I took one class and loved it. I learned a ton! However, I found it hard to squeeze in the two-hour class with managing my household and 5 kids. So I put it on hold for now. Can’t wait to really dive into that again in future years!! I hope you enjoy it and learn alot! I love the picture of the pink flower…very good!

Ah! That’s a great shot Elaine. I have to check this class out, maybe I can join too. I need all the help I can get!

Yay! You’re going to have so much fun learning your camera inside and out! Can’t wait to see what you do with it. That’s a great shot, such vibrant colors!

I love the little beads of water on the petals. Great photo! The colours just pop, don’t they?

This is a good shot! I, too, have an S5 IS – brand new to me and I am loving learning how to use it 🙂
