Restless

December 16, 2013 by Elaine

It seems as if Christmas cannot come soon enough for my kids.

Last night Tim and I stayed up to finally wrap several gifts and when the children awoke in the morning and saw them under the tree they about lost it.  And wanted it to be Christmas Eve TODAY.  Now.  This minute.

It is not.  Thank goodness.

Waiting is SOHARD when you are a kid.

I know. I remember.

It’s also hard when you are an adult.  I am waiting on some things right now too and I wish they would just HAPPENALREADY.  But some are out of my control and some I know will happen at a better, later time.

But that does not necessarily make the waiting any easier.

In the meantime, before any and all surprises are to be revealed we are doing our best to keep ourselves busy in other ways.

Even though waiting can be SUPER hard, it can also be fun too.

Duuuuude. My kids are in some kind of wild animal phase right now and I know its because of the Christmas ants in the pants! It will be over in the blink of an eye of course.

LOVE the leaf pile pics <3

And thanks! I think the house turned out pretty well. 🙂

Oh I feel this! Last night at bedtime Eddie whispered to me that there were 10 days until Christmas. Then after I thought he was falling asleep he whispered, “mom? tomorrow it will be NINE days until Christmas. And 9 is smaller than 10. Sweet kids…it seems like forever.

I always find that I get into the groove of waiting, but before that happens, I get to that, “I seriously can’t do this” phase. I’m an impatient person!

Looks like your holiday is shaping up to be just perfect. I love kids and leaves. They make for the best photos.

Lucas keeps asking me to make a gingerbread house and I keep begging him off… it’s so messy, but after seeing these cute shots, I might have to break down and get him one.

Tonya, this one from World Market was the best one we’ve had so far. You just have to make sure to let the royal icing dry and then you are GOOD to go! The kids and I both had fun with very little stress. 🙂

The waiting is the hardest part and the best part in my opinion I love the build up and magic that is the Christmas season. As a kid I felt like Christmas would never come and now as an adult I feel like it comes too fast.

I know, I was the same away as a kid. I remember waiting FOREVER to go to birthday parties too. I have always been impatient for anything that involved friends and food. 🙂

I do remember that feeling too. Love that you are finding such fun things to do during all the waiting! I’m feeling a bit jealous of your leaf play in short sleeves- we are expecting our second snow storm in three days !
