PSF – Uh Oh, It’s Started! (Honey, Don’t Read This)

January 29, 2010 by Elaine

Dressing a girl is a WHOLE new ballgame. Or maybe just ball (as in “gala”).

Tights, bows, SHOES, dresses, SHOES.

I was somewhat inspired by this post by Steph and realized I hadn’t visited the local resale establishment since Baby K was just a wee babe (looking for Halloween costumes at the time).

For Shame.

So, she and I took a trip while the boys were in school.

I’ll admit, I was a little overwhelmed at first. There was SO MUCH girl stuff. I used to have to pick through quite a bit to find decent things for the boys (many of The B Man’s clothes came from resale and have been passed down to Little G). But the girls stuff – WOAH!

So, after two passes I picked out a few dresses and a sleeper and THEN.

THEN I saw the shoe bins. Three of them with Baby K’s current size and future presumed size for Summer. O.M.G. I was in heaven.

We came home with ONLY six pair. I could have bought twice that many or more. Oh and the total, a little over $17.00. Score.

And today, I’ve been on the internet inquiring about bows, headbands, more shoes, pillowcase dresses on Etsy, etc.

Yep, it’s definitely started. It’s all over Dear (a.k.a Tim).

Love, your girls! : )

We have three girls (females anyway) in our house, and I couldn’t possibly tell you how many pairs of shoes we have.

    I LOVE this shot.

    Well done!

Yes, dressing girls is FUN!!! In my case, it gets pretty expensive so I don’t get to go as shoe crazy as I would like too. Six pairs for under $20 is a steal of a deal 🙂

I LOVE it too! After YEARS of having boy, after boy, after boy, after boy, I was so excited to have a girl again. I LOVE resale shops and find tons of great items on eBay too! (lots of designer clothes for 1/4 the price! Love me some Marese, Baby LuLu & Hanna Andersson, but don’t love their prices. LOL)

    Great score on the shoes!

since it was only $17, it doesn’t really count. You scored a deal, Elaine! So really, Hubs should be happy!

Oh. My. Word. Those shoes look so fabulous. That is exactly why I want a baby girl. How much fun is that? I am sure your husband will appreciate it when his baby is the cutest baby around in the Summer : )

    Elaine,

Can I call dibs on the black satin and silver shoes from your pic? But only when Baby K has outgrown them of course. I wouldn’t want to deprive a girl of her shoes. 🙂

Love bargains! I don’t seem to have success at resale stores though. I should keep trying. And I spend way too much time on Etsy bookmarking things for Butterfly and friends.

Oh how I wish my kids – especially my daughter could wear any shoes. She has to have wides and sometimes extra wides. I never got to have shoe fun with her. I’ll live vicariously through all of you. Great finds.

My friend has an Etsy and makes adorable little girl dresses and outfits. You might be interested. I think her prices are really good. http://www.etsy.com/shop/BellaShade

I know I’ve told you this before. God knows what he’s doing by not giving us a little girl. If I was able to shop for a little girl I would literally drive us into the poor house. Shoes aaagh SHOES! I love them.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Dressing a girl is a whole new game. Just don’t go to Gymobree.com and look at there 60% off section. I get into SO much trouble there.

Oh, those shoes are adorable! I couldn’t find my girls’ sizes at consignment, but I got on ebay and found a pair of Stride Rites and spent $5. I thought I did good.

And, there are soooo many bows out there…it’s crazy.
