PSF – Time To Play

April 9, 2010 by Elaine

I had the idea to get something for the boys to play with out in the backyard. A “dual” birthday gift that would come in between their two birthdays (but for the time of year factor, MUCH closer to The B Man’s, since Little G’s isn’t until mid-May).

So, we went to the local toy store (and when I say local, I mean locally owned and operated, not the one with the giraffe) and bought a good old-fashioned swing set. No, it’s not that fancy but it’s similar to what I had HOURS of fun on as a little girl so it’s ALL. GOOD.

Tim spent ALL evening putting it together last night. Oh! And I helped hold the teeter-totter part while he screwed it on. Aren’t I awesome? ;). (really, HE is…)

The first thing the boys did this morning was run out to see that it was finished. It was.

And now someone is “chomping at the bit” to get out there and SLIDE! But I won’t let him yet because it’s a little chilly and the whole thing is wet from the overnight dew.

He may break me soon though. It is a beautiful day and I could always dry the slide off with a towel.

Honestly, I can’t wait for my boys to play on this together and even the little girl someday too (I may have to replace one of the swings with a baby one for now…). Like I said, I had one similar but I usually had to play on it alone, unless a friend came over, because my brothers were so much older and weren’t into swinging or sliding any more.

So yes, this swing set is just as much of a gift to me as it is to them.

It’s the little things…

I had one too, and I loved it! My boys have already gone through one swing set and need another, but it is all well worth it for the hours of fun they have had on it!

That is awesome! they will have so much fun with it. You can always do what I do about the dew- just send them out in their pj’s and some shoes and let them go down the slide. Their little hiney will do a great job drying the slide off!

How fun! My kids would die if I we got a swingset. But our yard doesn’t have a ton of room, due to a poorly placed tree. Husband wants to keep the rest of the yard open for playing catch, etc. So my kids go crazy for swings at other houses. So nice to have something for the boys to play on, I’m sure they will make good use of it.

Swing sets are awesome. I just wish that when we got ours, we got more than 2 swings. 😉

You are right, the simplier the better with swing sets. And they will use it and use I am willing to bet!

Then you can capture the action shots!
