Over the bayou and through the woods to the zoo we go…

November 30, 2011 by Elaine

Some photos I took during our outing to the zoo last week…

The photo above would be perfect with a family in the center wouldn’t it?  I can’t stop looking for great places to take pictures of people since I started doing so. 🙂

Just a few seconds after I took this photo this Llama sneezed in my friend’s face.  No lie.  She handled it really well.  I probably would have cried.

I am in awe of this enormous live oak tree at our local zoo.  I have been since our first visit…

The white tiger looks like she wanted out.  Or wanted to eat some small children. Or both. Thank goodness for very thick glass. Oh but isn’t she gorgeous?

No zoo trip post would be complete without a pic of our troop of monkeys, right?

I have to say I find it interesting that my kids have been to some type of zoo so many times in their life.  Going to the zoo used to be an extra special treat for us when I was a kid.  Part of a vacation or something. Now it’s just like a place to go for a play date.

Is that how it is for you?  Do you have a zoo near your that your frequently visit or is it still a treat?

P.S. Did you see that I was featured at Scary Mommy’s place yesterday?  SO exciting!!  You can read my post “Toddlerish” HERE.

that’s exactly how it was when I was little! We only ever when during a special trip because my parents couldn’t afford it.

LOVE your photos! The light behind the trees is just gorgeous 🙂

    Beautiful pictures!

With us it is more of a treat now than it was when I was younger. The zoo is soooo expensive to get into and then they have all these “rides” there that are an additional cost. It can really add up.

I need to get my youngest there, though.

    Dang…you do such great stuff.

I’m with you on the oak tree…I love those pics. And the cheetah. Wow.

Great, great stuff here. Love it!

I was led here by a tweet that said, “A llama sneezed on her.” I mean how could you not click on THAT link!

Did you know that llamas have extremely bad breath? I used to have a bathroom trivia book and that little nugget was in it. It’s always stuck with me. I guess your friend knows that firsthand now, huh?

    Beautiful pics!

We have to drive all the way to Houston or Lufkin for the zoo so we don’t get to go that often. 🙁

I love that photo of the tiger. The Houston zoo isn’t set up like that so we never get to see them.

What GORGEOUS pictures!!! I wish we lived closer (how many times can I say that???) so that you could take our family picture (among other reasons). 🙂

We have a tiny zoo near us that we go to often. The big zoo is about an hour away and we go once a summer. I love the zoo. 🙂

When my kids were little, we had a zoo membership, so yes. We went a lot! But you’re right that when I, myself was little, that wasn’t true at all.

Love that you’re scoping out locations all the time now. 🙂

As for the sneezing llama, I would have acted like I’d been spewed with acid. It wouldn’t have been classy, I assure you.

Beautiful shots! We have a couple of zoos near us and have taken my daughter quite a few times. It used to be a big deal when I was growing up, too. 🙂
