He Really “Nose” How to Pick ‘Em!

February 6, 2009 by Elaine

I spend quite a bit of time telling this child to take his finger out of his nose (he always uses the same one…). Sometimes I just ignore it. I see it while he’s getting a diaper change or in the middle of his play time. I frequently see it in the rear view mirror while riding in the car. I’m pretty sure his older brother taught him how to do it. But then, how did HE learn? It’s just universal, isn’t it? (just reassure me and tell me it is!)

One thing I know for sure, “diggin’ for gold” is a pretty common practice amongst the little people around here…

{He’s gonna love me for this one later in life, isn’t he? tee hee!}

My younger daughter is a nose picker too which really surprised me because her big sister wasn’t! I don’t know where she learned it! I probably just tortured her so much with that suction bulb as a baby she started doing it herself in self defense!

Oh man, i was laughing so hard, i had a coughing attack, and then I thought I was going to puke. That was seriously the best laugh I’ve had in a long time!!

That’s cute yet disgusting… lol.. I recently found a picture of my children when my son turned 2 and in the group photo you see my now 16 year old daughter with her finger up her nose… i love the pic, she hates it!!!

My eldest is obsessed with picking his nose. The second his hands aren’t occupied he dives right in.

My brother in law assured me he used to have that habit. I asked when he outgrew it seeking light at the end of the tunnel. He said when he was 11!!!

Only 7 more years for me to endure then.

It’s universal. At least that’s what I tell myself, but my sweet little girl is one of the biggest nose pickers around!

At least he isn’t shoving things up there… That’s worse! You wouldn’t believe the kids that come into the hospital and have to have items removed.. sometimes by surgery. YIKES!

He’s a cute lil booger picker if I ever saw one! :o)

What a cutie! All kids pick some, right?!?! Baby Jax just found his nose, and when I say “where’s your nose?” he puts his finger UP his nose. So, yep, I’m sure he’ll be a picker too!

Why is this always so funny? Everyone (except me, of course) picks their nose, but it’s always so dang funny! Kinda like farting…

  24. Chris says

    February 7, 2009 at 1:12 am

    It is universal.

Obviously the finger fits — it’s SUPPOSED to be there!

What is it with little boys picking their nose? And it is your duty, as his mommy, to take pictures of him that will potentially embarass him when he is a teenager. Seriously.

  28. KC says

    February 7, 2009 at 3:33 am

LOL that is the cutest.. totally reminds me of my Little Man today.
~sigh~ totally grossed my 13 year old out.
She(13 year old) came home from sweet and sour chicken and she hands me one and says here you go mom. Well the 3 year old must have wanted to hand me something too, because about 2 seconds later he walks right up next to the 13 year old infront of me and says here mom with out looking I reached out and he is handing me a booger..

As long as he doesn’t eat it. Stinkerbell eats hers and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve chased her through the house and dug them out by shoving a kleenex in her mouth. Gross.

  30. Domestically Disabled Girl says

    February 7, 2009 at 5:30 am

Yes, great isn’t it? I had a student last year who picked her nose constantly . One day, I knelt by her desk and told her she had to stop before I got sick!

  31. Brenda Heisler says

    February 7, 2009 at 4:29 pm

So cute and so typical. Yes, everybody sees kids doing it. Who teaches them? Must be the NosePicking Fairy.

  32. CC says

    February 7, 2009 at 5:29 pm

Ewwwwww! I so thought my son would stop when he entered K. He didn’t until I emailed the teacher and told her about our “wash hands immediately” intervention plan. That seemed to work well since he doesn’t like to wash his hands!

  33. Hailey says

    February 7, 2009 at 6:03 pm

    Let him pick. No biggie.
“You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose but you can’t pick your friends nose.” That is when I would begin to worry. Haha!

  35. Trannyhead says

    February 7, 2009 at 11:29 pm

It’s totally universal. I mean – it IS the most efficient way to get crap out of your nose, you know? Works better than a Kleenex, probably. Maybe we’re all the dumb ones! 🙂

  36. Natalie says

    February 8, 2009 at 2:28 am

agh. yep…they love the “nose poop”

just this week james started shoving both pointer fingers up each nostril and then saying momma, momma, momma…when i notice and say YUCK, he laughs really hard! would be very cute if it wasn’t so nasty!
