Gimme a “D”!

January 13, 2009 by Elaine

Last week Em at Life, Liberty and Pursuit was givin’ out letters in which you make a list of 10 of your favorite things that begin with that particular character.

When I asked nicely for a letter she bequeathed upon me the letter “D.” And at first I was like “Oh yeah, no problem!” And then I actually had to start thinking. Uh oh.

I managed to come up with 10 pretty quickly in relation to the beginning of time.

Here they are, in the order that I thought of them.
1. Dark chocolate – This is first?? NO WAY! Yeah, most of you know of my affinity for chocolate already. In the last couple of years I have switched to dark chocolate partly because it’s supposed to be better for you and well, I just like it better. I could eat all of this, by the way.

2. Duvets – I LOVE my duvet. When I was growing up we always had “comforters” but while working in the home decor industry I was introduced to the duvet. SO. MUCH. BETTER.

3. Deer Valley, Utah – this is where Tim and I spent our honeymoon in the beautiful home owned by his aunt and uncle. It’s SO beautiful there and of course every time I think of it I have wonderful memories of the week after we were married. And then it reminds me yet again how much I love my man.

4. Diner, Drive-ins and Dives – I love this show. Of course every time I watch it I just want to dive into the t.v. and eat that burger that Guy Fieri is putting his big ole mouth around. Then I take notice of my salivary glands exploding and “D”rool dripping out of the corner of my mouth. Attractive, I know.

5. Dessert – Another given. I wish I could eat dessert after every meal, even breakfast. And you know, The B Man said the same thing to me the other day. Like mother, like son. Thankfully I have SOME restraint and therefore don’t weigh 500 pounds after giving in to that temptation EVERY. TIME.

6. Dad – My father is one of my favorite people EVER. He’s wise and funny and has always been there for me. I could talk about him for the rest of this post and many more. But just know that I love him and feel so lucky to have the relationship with him that I do!

7. dictionary.com – A lifesaver for any writer, blogger or well… anyone who uses words. I actually don’t know how to spell everything (please folks, hide your suprise a little better mkay?) or even the EXACT meaning of all the words I want to use, but it does!! Wahoo!!!

8. Here is where I just started thinking of words such as dilapidated, dastardly, distinguished, dust, dahlia, devoured (in relation to #1 and #4) OH and devilish. And then #7 came in handy ’cause I had to look up “dastardly” and now it’s my word for the week. Unfortunately… not that many opportunities to use it. Hmph.

Moving on….

9. Dane Cook – This man cracks me up like crazy. OMG, he’s funny!! And I am strangely attracted to him too. Must be the funny…. or possibly something else…

10. Dimples – The ones that belong to this particular little guy are irresistable as far as I am concerned. But they’re ALL good.

So that wraps it up for the “D.”

If you would like a letter, just let me know in your comment and I will “assign” you one too. C’mon, it’s pretty fun!

What about Dallas? Or diamonds? Deep tissue massage?

Sorry, couldn’t help myself. You should do this list for every letter of the alphabet … except for maybe U, X, Y and Z.

Great list!! And yes, dastardly does need to be used more in everyday conversations.

I love, love me some dimples!! It’s the only physical proof that that both my boys are actually mine – carbon copies of their Daddy, but their dimples, those came from ME!

That post was so much fun it was almost dastardly (since it’s the word of the day)… um… because it distracted me from getting supper ready. Yeah. Downright, doggedly dastardly, dagnabbit. Didyahear? Doubly distracting.

    😉

Um, Dane Cook? Why yes, thank you. He is sooo funny!

Also, please help with the duvet situation I have! I have a white faux down comforter that I adore, so so soft and cloudy and all. My 3 year old just spilled an entire container of powdered blush all over it today and I need a duvet because the white shall never be white again! I am looking for something ultra soft to the touch, what do you suggest? Where shall I get one? I have gotten them from overstock.com and been marginally okay with them, but nothing I was ever crazy about. My biggest problem is that the comforter is slightly smaller than a regular king, for some reason. Help me!?
