Clean faces are SO overrated

May 11, 2011 by Elaine

Sometimes I get lazy with my mothering.  You know, I don’t always change a diaper the very MINUTE I smell the stink.

I don’t wipe the highchair off after every third meal.

Sometimes I get yet ANOTHER sippy cup out of the cupboard after I know 3 or 4 have already been used that day.

And even more often? I don’t always wipe my kids faces.

As is evident.

Here.

What can I say, they know how to enjoy their food.  (no idea who they got that from, btw…)

Oh and sometimes I let the 19-month old continue to use her paci almost all the time if she wants it especially while teething.

Yes, I’m guilty.  Of enjoying the quiet.

You know, on the rare occasion that it IS quiet. 🙂

Personally, I think there is something that seeps out of the skin of children, allowing everything and anything adhere to it. I mean . . .not only their faces, but haven’t you noticed that kids are ALWAYS sticky? No matter how many times you wash or wipe them off.

    Still. Sticky.

Eh. Ana still has her pacifier. She’ll be 3 in July. I worried when Zoe had her’s when she was almost 3 and went for her first dental appointment. They weren’t concerned at all. They said that they found that kids will give up the pacifier on their own before they turn 4. And… right before Zoe a couple weeks before Zoe turned 3 she actually threw out her last paci all by herself. It got a crack in it and it annoyed her and it was just that easy. So… I’m not pushing it with Ana either. (Although we are at the point that it’s only allowed in the house… and soon will be only for bed and nap.)

Ha – I love the sticky faces. It’s like a treat when you kiss them.

Hey, when they are that cute a little bit of messy is just fine. 🙂

They are super cute when they are messy! You don’t even want to know how long my son has had a paci. Not one of my finer parenting moments. 😉

    haha!
Just yesterday I took a ton of pics of E&W playing gin the yard and when I looked at the close-ups of them I noticed they both had food on their faces.
    Opps.

Good grief, you take amazing photos.

I do the same thing…forget to clean off my kid’s faces. My husband HATES it!

I think both of mine have a perpetually dirty face. It seems like I can never get them to stay clean.

I’m guilty of this, too! My boys are always walking around with dirty faces and I sometimes forget to wash their faces before we leave the house!

Constantly clean faces are a sign of a mother who needs more to do. 😉

I never clean my kid’s faces. I gave up years ago. 😉

WHAT? We are supposed to wash their faces?

    Who knew?

Yep, I am guilty of pretty much all of these as well. Washing faces before it’s time go to bed is basically like shoveling in a snowstorm. Great captures, BTW!

Love it! I was such a helicopter mom with my first that when the second came around, I was just tired! I think everyone is happier now that things are a bit more laid back.

When your kids are that cute a little bit of mess on their face is no big deal. 🙂

Don’t you wish sometimes that it was socially acceptable for adults to walk around like this??!! How carefree we would be 🙂 Adorable captures!

I love the angle of the last one. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the dirty mouths. Any good mama grabs her camera first!

Sometimes I let the snot dry on their faces until the boogers are crusty. Isn’t that gross?? And that paci shot? So, so sweet. Poor thing!

Dirty faces are like a badge of honor for kids. Why else would they fight you tooth and nail when you try to wipe them? I forgive you for being lazy and applaud it. I mean its not like their not going to just get dirty again or actually complain about it. No child is coming to you saying “I just can’t go on like this, I can’t just walk around with a dirty face, come on mom really are you serious? (get it). No kid will do this.
