Best Buy & Samsung – Quite the Pair!

May 30, 2016 by Elaine

While out shopping for a new refrigerator some people might say, “A fridge is a fridge is a fridge. They all keep things cold.” Yeah, but… that’s not all they do these days, actually. Samsung proves that with the amazing one I checked out while at Mom 2.0 last month.

I am truly amazed at the technology that appliances can harbor here in 2016.  Have you seen the commercials with the chick from Frozen and her IRL husband from Parenthood? What are their names….oh right, Kristen and Dax.

Anyway, it was quite fun to watch their cute Africa safari video (with the soundtrack being one of my favorite 80’s songs) ON the door of the Samsung refrigerator in the Best Buy suite at the conference. Did you hear read what I just said? The darn thing basically has a tablet on the front, contained within one of the doors.  See?

Mind Blown.

You can also see what is in your fridge WHILE at the grocery store (as shown in above referenced commercial) because there’s a camera INSIDE the fridge and an app for your phone.

Mind Blown AGAIN.

Plus one side of the bottom compartments can go from freezer to fridge and back again. BOOM!

Now, a part of me is all, “Do we really need all of this on a fridge? Really?”

However, then I think back to all the times that I have forgotten to check what I needed before I left the house and how handy it WOULD be to check while perusing the produce section at the store.  Not to mention jamming out while cooking dinner, just by tapping a screen on my refrigerator. Or possibly having a show or movie on while I chop garlic.

This thing also keeps grocery lists and has a calendar and well, I could go on and on. Now if only the door would automatically lock, knowing I was going for another scoop of ice cream. But I suppose fridges cannot make judgement calls not yet anyway.

Samsung is truly on the cutting edge with their appliances and with Best Buy as a partner, I was really impressed by all of the appliances I saw while there, big and small. I also want the oven since you can preheat it with wi-fi and keep your food at the perfect temperature in the warming drawer, until ready to serve. Y’all, I bet even Martha S. is impressed by this thing!

And yes, please, I’ll take one of each…

I want to watch TV while making dinner! Or read the recipe I’m using right on the door of the fridge! I’d never worry again about slopping sauce all over my phone.

I’ve definitely seen those commercials. They’re fun to watch. That refrigerator is definitely insane, but I guess this is what we can expect to start seeing in the future of kitchen appliances. It gets me excited to think about the fact that we will be needing new kitchen appliances within the next couple years, actually!
