Avery & Austin, The Cure For Boredom

April 30, 2015 by Elaine

My kids get bored sometimes around our house, even though there is absolutely NO shortage of toys in our abode and the fact that on any given day I could probably build a structure AROUND myself with the amount of LEGO we have. Never you mind though.  They will find some time during a weekend day especially to declare, “I’m bored”.  What is that even? I mean, there is no way in H.E. double hockey sticks that you could actually, truthfully be BORED right now.  And what is so wrong with it if you are? I spent a lot of time being bored as a kid.

I’m not really a mean mom, I promise. 😉

Anyway, I could rant about my own childhood or tell you about an awesome new cure to boredom that is truly brilliant.

My friend Nichole and her friend Cam have started a new company that sends you a box full of fun every month (there’s even something in there for Mom!).  Their new “baby” is called Avery & Austin and the box of goodies they sent me was great playdate fun for Katie and a friend of hers.  Inside were enough supplies to paint some rocks (2 each), and plant a pot each of carrot seeds.  Also included were snacks – packs of GoGo Squeeze for the girls to enjoy while using their energy to paint!  And, as I mentioned a little something for Mom (that’s me) as well – a mud mask and some lip balm!  So thoughtful of them to think of the hostess as well, don’t you think? I do.

The girls got so excited when I opened the box for them and showed them all the stuff inside.  Katie’s friend was thrilled that they were going to paint as she exclaimed, “I love to paint!” (I had no idea, but what kid doesn’t?)  So they got right to work! (after Katie downed BOTH of the Go-Go squeeze packets because her friend said she did not like them and Katie could have hers).

After we put their painted rocks aside, we went outside to plant their carrot seeds.  The girls loved this part too.  And K’s friends was so excited to take home her little pot of seeds and dirt. 🙂

Do your kids often report boredom?  Do they think opening a box of goodies is fun?  Do you want them to not nag you for stuff to do? Do you also want them to have fun and learn with their friends or siblings? Then you should probably give Avery & Austin a try!  It comes with pampering AND snacks so there reasons to give it a go are endless!  It truly is the “perfect playdate”!

Oh, fun! I’ve seen lots of kids activity boxes for kids, but who could say no to one that includes stuff for mom, too?!
