You Capture – Love Around My Home

January 21, 2010 by Elaine

Love is all around as they say.

Obviously we know I love my husband and children and all of my family for that matter.

But there are certain things that make a house a “home.” Things that just “speak” to us and make our hearts soar.

Here are a few of mine…

I bought this “sweetheart” chair at an estate sale a few years ago. The gentleman selling it had recently lost his wife and was clearing out their home and moving on. Every time I look at it I think of him saying that “she loved that chair” and the love they shared together. And I love seeing the hearts in the back of this great piece that I paid too little for…

Baby K’s “somewhat of a mish-mash, with touches of modern and traditional” nursery is based on this rug that I found at IKEA. We play in her room a lot lately because it makes me very happy. I do love it and I think she does too.

Because I love my family I make them homemade muffins with cream cheese and big, juicy blueberries. Oh and I kind of like them myself too.

This lamp used to be in Tim’s Grandparents’ home but after they moved from their house and to a retirement community we were able to bring it into our home. I love it and also adore the fact that it makes me think of them often. They are wonderful people.

Share the love too… join in with You Capture at Beth’s place.

    Lovely pictures.

I love the story of that chair and the picture of Baby K is so sweet – what a lovely, colourful baby friendly room. I’m sure she does love it. Plus, she matches her rug! What girl wouldn’t love that?

    Those muffun look delicious!

And that lamp is super-cool. I have a lamp that I love that belonged to my great-grandmother. It’s packed away right now because it needs to be re-wired. I keep meaning to look into how to do it and try my hand at it… I should do that soon.

    Fun post!

Elaine–I suck because I make blueberry muffins out of a box (though I do put in real/fresh blueberries when I have them on hand)…I would really love your muffin recipe if you have time to share it. My gals love muffins and I would like to try to make real ones. We also love cream cheese…

I love the rug and the chair, too. Your photos are incredible, as always. Baby K looks right at home in her room!

I think that it is great that you recognize the value of the memory in that chair even though most of that memory isn’t from your own experience!

Lots of love to be found in your home – but I already knew that!!

I was at Ikea a couple weeks ago and fell in love with that very rug! I can picture it in N’s one-day room.

P.S. You might need to post that recipe. Just sayin!

I really enjoyed your lovely pictures. The first (of your chair) is my favorite. My mom and I always say “Love is where you find it – look for it.” We have this little back and forth thing where we try to find hearts in everyday objects to take picture of and send to one another. This one would be perfect! So glad to have found your blog after hearing sweet things about you from some of the ladies at Cupcake 10!
