My Left Side is Tired of Me Sleeping on My Left Side & Other Random Thoughts

Can someone please tell me why it’s SO hard to sleep the month or so before baby is born? Isn’t this when I should be getting some of my best sleep, BEFORE baby gets here? YEESH!

Get a load of my “cankles!!” (no, they are NOT usually this big…) I mean WOAH.

I miss my shoes. I’ve been wearing one pair of flip flops pretty much everywhere I go, even with jeans. (which is usually a no-no in my book) because nothing else fits. I think they miss me too.

In the same vein I’ve reached the point where I am tired of my maternity wardrobe. And at this point, I can kinda understand why muumuus used to be preferred pregnancy outfit. Not that I would EVER go there.

We are driving to Austin this weekend to attend the wedding reception of a friend and visit family. It’s our first drive out there since moving and I am NOT looking forward to all the time in the car. All I gotta say is, God bless the portable DVD player.

The B Man has been drawing like crazy lately. All of the sudden he’s drawing and coloring pictures of all kinds of things, including the entire cast of Sponge Bob (see below). His Patrick is quite good. Actually, they all are. He also drew me an entire ocean today complete with all kinds of sea life. He’s so proud of himself and I love it. OH and I’m totally proud too and love telling him so. (btw, those crazy blue scribbles at the top are his younger brother’s ‘additions’ to the art work)

I think my Little G is cute and WOW, so does the general public. Seriously, we cannot go anywhere without people just fawning over him. Yesterday while out at lunch an elderly lady stopped by our table and said “He is just the most precious thing” and ran her wrinkled hand softly over his hair. It was really so sweet.

Here in Louisiana you have to specify how you want your tea. Sweet or Unsweet. I’m still not used to this. Although not drinking that much tea right now, when I do order it I always forget to say “Unsweet.” Wonder how long it will take until I get in the habit…

I have to water my plants before I leave for the weekend. Y’all help me remember, okay?

I made these cupcakes (well ‘pound cakes’ according to Martha) on Wednesday and they were quite tasty. They were my first attempt to make something out of the Martha Stewart cupcake cookbook, given to me by this wonderful woman.

Okey Doke. That’s all for now.

Enjoy the holiday weekend. Here’s to one less day in the carpool line! : )

  4. WHOA is right!!! I went up a whole SHOE size with my 1st….thankfully that was the only time I had feet issues….now sleeping, peeing, riding in cars….all 3!!

What a talented artist he is!! That looks VERY much like the SpongeBob we watch, great pineapple!

Have a safe trip!! Call me when you get back…we’ll go SHOPPING!! :)

  5. Oh that last month is hard. I remember just wanting to sleep but being up to pee like every 20 minutes during the night. The hubs use to be a light sleeper but when I was pregnant he learned to sleep through all my trips, lol

  6. First have a safe trip and enjoy yourself!

Oh how i feel you on the cankles and the maternity clothes, and yes the lack of sleep as well! It seems like the closer i get to the end the less sleep i get! I am so tired when i wake up in the morning i spend the rest of the day in a count down til bed time. Pregnancy is so ruff but i would do it a million times over because the payoff is so sweet!

  7. Awww honey! Bless your poor swollen feet. :(

  8. Oh I am right there with you!

Your feet and cankles are skinny compared to mine. I’m kinda jealous of yours in fact.

All of a sudden this week, I too am unable to sleep.Just think in 30 days or so our sweet little girls will be here!

  9. That last month was awful for me. I couldn’t sleep, eat, or even breathe. Ha!

  10. Look at it this way, at least your toenails look pretty! Hope the swelling goes down soon, my BFF is preggers with twins and due in November…hers are already started to swell!

Have a safe and fun weekend!

  11. You’ll be back in your shoes soon… That drawing is awesome! Little G IS very cute.

Don’t forget to water your plants! Mwah!

  12. Oh, those ankles look uncomfortable! And you have to drive with them! Your baby girl will be here soon, and those ankles will be long forgotten. I’ll bet you can’t wait!

  13. Your poor ankles!!! Almost done, hang in there!!! Will be nice to be back in normal clothes an shoes this winter!!
Thank goodnness for portable DVD’s…makes road trips so much easier. Enjoy the wedding!

  14. The last month is the WORST. I think that you need a pedicure just for the sheer relaxation of it all! Nothing like a good foot rub.

How did people ever SURVIVE before portable DVD players? Crimeny!

Good luck and have fun..oh, and hey?

    Water your plants.

  15. Oh, girl, I know you are READY to have baby girl arrive!

The swelling, peeing, and just uncomfortable-ness of it all…I can’t wait for her to arrive honey!

And I can’t believe she’s almost here alredy…time flew by!

    PS–your pedi is cuuuute!!

  16. B man is a terrific artist! Ask him to draw a picture of you. Do it. My son drew the funniest picture of me preggo with #3. He actually drew my cankles!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Okay, wait. You don’t have sweet tea in Texas? Here you have to specify too!

And I wear flip flops with jeans. Oops!

  18. Your poor feet! Mine looked exactly like that at the end of my pregnancies, and I too hated the fact that I couldn’t find a comfortable position to sleep, no matter how hard I tried. Just relish the fact that it will all be over soon and you’ll have a beautiful little you to celebrate! Safe trip – you are crazy to go so far this late in the game – try to stretch out your legs and keep them elevated as much as possible!!
    SAFE TRIP!!

  20. Stopping by to say hey to my fellow Moxie Mom! And, who cares about the cankles? At least your toe nails look purdy:)

  21. I well remember those days. It sucks! My feet were also a full size bigger during pregnancy, but shrunk back down a little while after I delivered, thank goodness. My fingers were also so fat that I has to remove my wedding rings at the 3-month mark! I went to Claire’s and got some CZ to wear b/c I felt so awkward being pg w/ no ring on!

  22. Oh, I remember the cankles! They were not fun.

I’m stopping by from Moxie Media. I’m trying to check out all the blogs :)

  23. Had cankles too! So not fun! Hang in there girlie!!!!

  24. I don’t envy you being so pregnant at the hottest time of the year! Surprisingly I never did have my feet or ankles swell.. maybe it’s because I managed to have both my babies in the early spring!

    You are almost there!

  25. Oh, I so remember wanting to wear a moomoo, too. Something that didn’t touch me. And, wanting no clothes at night!

Here’s to October 1st getting here pronto.

  26. Is it wrong that I read your blog to remind myself how much I hated being preggo??? LOL

The cankles brought it all back.

    ((hugs))
