Do you ever have those?
I sure hope not.
But, unfortunately, I do.
And in my heart of hearts I know, of course, that it is not true because I see how amazing my kids are and I figure I have a little something to do with that but that doesn't mean we don't have our so-so or even bad days.
I recently read this post that Jennifer directed me to and it REALLY got me thinking about what is NOT in my pictures.
What if there was a photo of every moment with my kids?
Well, then I wouldn't always look that good, I assure you. For MANY reasons.
But we DO have good times and days and I know I need to focus on that, while doing my best to change the other stuff as much as I can.
And yes (!!) there ARE days when they eat all their lunch and brush their teeth without protesting and days with more smiles than frowns and plenty of hugs and laughter.
Those are the memories I cling to, here and now.

Gosh, I have some bad days, my friend. Days where I just wish that day would die and I can erase it from my mind. Fortunately, there are also those good days which I wish never end, and when it did end, I wish that tomorrow will be the same.
ReplyDeleteC'est la vie, yes?
we DO show our best sides don't we? but i am always encouraged to hear it when others write about the not-so-good. not that i WANT others to have hard times at all, just that it makes me feel better to know that i am not the only one on the planet who struggles with regualr life sometimes!
ReplyDeleteThose days are hard. I have a few of those a week. In fact, I had one of those days yesterday. Chin up, mama. We do the very best we can and if we find ourselves not doing our best, we can start again. The awesome thing about kids is that they get it. They have bad days too and they love us anyway. It's in the handling of a trully crappy mom day that they can learn that life can be hard but that mama is strong and will love them forever. Lessons in struggle can be a good thing for kids to learn. And then they learn how to keep going and find happiness despite it.
ReplyDeleteThe happy and laughing moments are the ones I cling to from my own childhood, so I think my kiddies are going to turn out just fine. Even if mama loses her mind every now and again ;)
Thank you for the link up :)
Oh yeah, we all have those days. Days when I am so glad that I get another chance to make it better...to do better.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you care enough to notice those days means you are an awesome mother!
Uh, YEAH, I have those days. And many I actually do photograph. Like my toddler tossing a full on fit. I like to look back fondly that I survived that day ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures! And your lunch posts, can't wait.
I had a whole comment typed out but my phone crashed, and it all got erased. Ridiculous Apple.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the bad days at our house are BAD. I have to struggle to remember that when the good days come around, they are awesome.
And now my phone won't let me link. Why do I have an iPhone again? Ugh.
Snapsofourlife.com (best I can do, no copy and paste either).
Oh, YES, I have those days. Then the next morning everything's usually better. I think sometimes we all (in my house) just don't click some days. It's hard though - I always turn to myself and say what did I do wrong? When the truth is probably that we all had a hand in it.
ReplyDeleteI know all about those days! :)
ReplyDeleteI recently had a day like that which found me crying and crawling under the dining room table to apologize to my 5 yo. A friend pointed out that she is going to remember my apology far more than she will remember the reason it was necessary.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I have those days all the time. Afterward I wish I could shake myself and scream, "what were you thinking?!"
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely things I'm so glad no one had a photo of. Or a video. *cringe*

There are good and bad days in life. But at least we can look at the pictures of the good times on bad days and that helps us know it will soon pass.
ReplyDeleteOh Elaine, if I shared pictures of the everyday crazy in this house y'all would think I'd lost it! I totally get the bad days, but I think you're an amazing mom and it shows in your pictures and your words. I hope today was a good one!
ReplyDeleteAnd I read that article you linked to - brilliant! Thank you for sharing!
Um, yes, I have days like this all the time. xo.
