I did make the cupcakes from scratch and I decorated the treat bags by applying round pieces of construction paper to make them to look like Legos (yes, idea found on Pinterest).
Tim actually had a great time "building" the candy blocks to go on the cupcakes. He's my best helper. ;-)
And I had a bowl of miscellaneous Legos at the table in our party room so before the kids left they either made something with them or grabbed a handful to take home in their treat bag, to play with later.
I also found adorable Lego-like candles at zee French store (a.k.a Tar-jay).
And I did not have to clean my house before OR after this party, so WIN-WIN!
P.S. Please make note of the way my two boys are hugging in this photo below. I do believe I'm going to crop everyone else out and print a large copy of just them together and put it in their room, so they can ALWAYS see how much the love each other... ;-) Good idea, right?
And hey, guess what!

My husband is trying to convince me to just go the bouncy house route this year as our plans for a birthday party were squashed by a wedding. I just don't want to spend the money. Haha!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great party!! Although any party that ends with brothers hugging and NO house cleaning is a great party in my books. Happy Birthday to your little man!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Little G and oh-my-goodness what awesome party favors, cupcakes, and fun! (But you fooled us all if that is keeping things simple because it looks so very not simple, and I mean that in a very good way.) Also, hooray for not having clean the house!
ReplyDeletePS. Saw your tweet about running. I am SO sorry. Hope you can find something else to help relieve some of that. :)
That is a very cute picture of the boys and all of the decorations are very cute!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! The cupcakes look awesome.
ReplyDeleteYES, crop that picture and frame it. :)
Love this party. Just the right mix of homemade touches and stress free party.
ReplyDeleteAnd the picture I think you need one in their room, one in your car, one in your purse, etc. Anytime they start to show their displeasure with each other - whip it out!
You did an awesome job, mama. (and aren't parties somewhere else SOOOO much easier on us - you are brilliant. xo)
ReplyDeleteOf course you should print that hugging picture of them and frame it and ask them to refer to it when they are trying to decapitate each other. Oh, maybe only mine try to do that like they mean it. Looks like the party was a hit!
ReplyDeleteToo cute!! I love the idea of a lego party. That last pic is absolutely priceless!
ReplyDeleteit looks like all had fun. those cupcakes look great and your boys hugging... so precious!!!
ReplyDeleteI have pinned several of those lego party ideas because I think they are so cute. My kids aren't even really into legos.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a really fun time! I pinned those lego bags, too- probably a repin of yours. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool party!!! That is so awesome! Seriously. Lucky boy. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that pic of them hugging. So sweet! I would frame it too. I have one kinda like that of my boys too. :)
Awesome party - I love the cupcakes and the gift bags! We went to a jump place birthday party a few weeks ago and loved it. I'm with you...I think at-home parties are great, but then you really need a cleaning crew for your house afterwards - ha!
ReplyDeleteI have decided to do parties away from the home from now on, it's SOO much easier than stressing out about having a presentable house and then having to clean it up AGAIN afterwards. Great job Elaine and I think that yes, you should definitely enlarge the cropped boys and put it on their wall...poster size! :)
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet picture! Yes, crop it and blow it up. Happy birthday to G. Looks like lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteThat party looks perfect! Tons of fun, the theme he wanted and yes you don't have to deal with the mess! Smart smart lady, love that group shot
ReplyDeleteI saw those lego bags on Pinterest, too. I'm so glad you reminded me I need to get on the stick with some party planning.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a LOT of fun.
I love the picture of your boys sharing the love...definitely crop them out and frame it somewhere where they (and anybody else who comes over) can always see it!
ReplyDeleteGotta love Pinterest! You did a great job with the party, looks like everyone had a great time!
ReplyDeleteI am in the throws of planning Nate's 5th birthday party and trying to rmind myself not to overextend. It is so hard for me. Stupid overachieving brain with not enough time to back it up!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog hop through Life by Ashely Pichea. Thanks - this is fun!
ReplyDeleteSoooo cute!! And I have a photo of my boys like that, and I cherish it.
ReplyDeleteLove the party idea!!!!
