I am a Canadian

NO, not me... I am so excited to present y'all with a guest post from my friend Kami who IS Canadian! She is one of the first people who started commenting on my blog when I began "branching out" more into the mommy blog world. Her comments, emails and virtual friendship mean a lot to me. I hope that someday we can meet in person. I'm thinkin' we could meet somewhere in the middle, like in Wyoming perhaps. What do you think, Kami?

Ok, here's her awesome post.

Hi there! My name is Kami and I post random drivel over at Kami’s Khlopchyk . I come from a long line of Polish and Ukrainian pioneers or Pukes as we are affectionately called. I am the proud mother of two sons and "khlopchyk" is the Polish word for boys.

Elaine is one of my bestest blogging buddies and I was beyond honoured when she asked me to guest post here this week.

Did you notice that extra u in honoured? It’s not misspelled, at least not where I come from. I. AM. CANADIAN. Up here we like to distinguish ourselves from our American friends by throwing an extra u into selected words. We really know how to live it up here in the Canadian wilderness.

Since I am Canadian and Elaine is American, Texan to be specific, I thought I would dispel some common misconceptions about my home and native land. That and I couldn’t for the life of me think of anything else interesting. I post drivel at the best of times on my own site and this guest posting is a first for me, oh the pressure!

Now where was I? Oh yes, I am Canadian. That phrase, by the way, was coined by a beer commercial, the product name being, wait for it…. Molson Canadian . We are nothing if not original up here in Canada, after all our national anthem is Oh Canada, if that’s not original then I don’t know what is.

You also need to know that beer is very important here in Canada. Mexico has tacos, the US of A has hamburgers, and we, up here in the white north, have beer. Yes, it is that important here. Wait. That might just be with my in-laws.

Now, you may have heard stories about us Canadians, like that we live in igloos and are all Eskimos.

Now I’ll be the first to tell you that the place I live should only be inhabited by polar bears from the months of November through March, however, we do actually live in houses, just like yours, constructed of wood and brick. And if we did live in igloos we’d be homeless in the summer. The truth is that our summers are just like yours, quite lovely, if you ignore the extreme heat and mosquitoes anyway. I am pretty sure our ancestors came in the summer because if they had shown up in the winter, this would all still be forest and marshland rather than farmland and I would be basking in the California sun right now. When in doubt, blame it on the ancestors.

Maybe you have also heard that we don’t have indoor plumbing. Trust me, I’ve got two kids, the plumbing works just fine, thankyouverymuch.

And no, I don’t know your cousin in Toronto. That’s about 1,000 miles from where I live and there are about a million people in Toronto. That’s a bit like me asking you if you know my Aunt Minnie who winters at a retirement trailer park near Orlando, FL.

While it is very romantic to think that our policemen are all Mounties riding about on horseback, it is just not practical. Some idiot in a Hummer would run over one of them and then there would go the force. Up here in Canada, we have a points system while driving, old ladies and gophers are 2 pts, bears are 10, Mounties are 20 *… you see where I am going… For everyone’s safety especially the horses, we have men in blue who drive around in Fords.

This leads me to the last quintessentially Canadian thing: hockey. I can understand how you might think that Canadian kids leave the womb in hockey skates but that too is false. Most kids don’t don skates and grab a stick until at least age 3. I kid you not. There is actually a hockey league here for 3 and 4 year olds. I would guess that watching a bunch of 3 year olds trying to not only skate but shoot a puck into the net would be quite humourous (there’s another one of those extra u’s I was taking about!) however, I haven’t had the pleasure. Most Canadian kids play hockey, even girls. My boys though, are marching to the tune of a different drum and have zero interest in the game. I am pretty sure it’s hereditary.

Despite what you might think, hockey is not our national sport. It’s actually lacrosse. Yeah, I don’t really know what that is either, don’t worry about it.

To summarize, the two things you need to know, beer and hockey. Not too difficult eh? If you come to Canada, be sure to bring lots of beer to bribe the locals. I have it on good authority that it works quite well. Oh right, that might just be with my in-laws, but it’s worth a shot. If the beer doesn’t work bring up Canada’s latest gold medal at the World Junior Hockey Championships. You’ll be fine. Really.

* I am totally joshing your there, no points, it is generally frowned upon to hit anyTHING, never mind anyONE while driving. With snowballs though, everyone is fair game…

Wordless Wednesday #26 - Beach Memories

Sorry, this won't be so "wordless" today. Below is a pic of me and The B Man on our last beach vacation almost 2 years ago (before I was even blogging!). Where does the time go?? Look how little my boy was!!

And I sure wish I could find those sunglasses. But they are LONG gone, along with the other 278 pair I have owned in my life.

Looking forward to making more memories like this with Little G included this time (although he was kinda there when this pic was taken since I was about 5 weeks pregnant!). We leave tonight and will be back on Monday. I have one guest poster... stop by tomorrow to see who it is. I promise you'll enjoy it! : )

Scoot on over to 5 Minutes for Mom for more Wordless Wednesday posts!

It's Like Going to the Spa... for my Teeth

One day last week while The B Man was at "summer school" and Little G was dropped off at a friend's house for a little play time with his pal G too (they share a name), I was off to get my teeth cleaned at the dentist. (I know, where else would I get my teeth cleaned right?)

So ... I had time in the car BY MYSELF.

This is such a commodity these days. But it's always so weird at first as I drive off because I SO expect to hear something coming from the back seat and when I hear nothing AT. ALL I am always a little freaked out and have to adjust the rear-view mirror just to make sure it's ok to crank the music.

Music that is NOT Laurie Berkner. No offense Laurie but I am just a TEENY bit tired of you . Please don't take it personally. You do have great hair.

Anyway, back to the dentist.

I love my hygentist. She's the nicest lady ever and we always have a good time catching up between scrapings, polishings and suction time. I mentioned to her that I actually enjoy coming there for my cleanings these days because it's one of the only times now that I get any "me" time. And my teeth always feel so good and well, clean, afterward. She admitted that I am not the only SAHM who has said this to her. I mean these days I am thinking that every 6 months is too long to wait... sad, I know.

So, I ask you - do you look at a teeth cleaning as "me" time or is it still something you can't stand? (I used to NOT LIKE it as a kid). I do believe this is what my teeth look like after I leave...

So, to recap, I get like 35 minutes in the car ALONE and happy, clean teeth. It really is a good deal. Dentists everywhere are thanking me for this post. Get thee to the dentist! It's good for mouth & soul! ; )

Bound for the Beach!

So... we're leaving for a much needed but way-too-short trip to the beach on Wednesday night and I am SO not prepared. I did do laundry today and sort of started packing. I always end up packing WAY too much stuff for a trip like this but this time our cargo space is somewhat limited so I have to control myself. Part of my problem is that I always have these dreams of me running down the beach is some beautiful sundress and so I pack said sundress and then never get my chance to run down the beach. Not that I run anyway.

I am still packing that dress though because it doesn't take up very much room and I am sure I will look just as nice in it while drinking a glass of wine as I would making tracks on the beach. See, this is how it starts. But a girl has to have options, right?

This is a family vacation. We are going with my parents and my brother and his family and renting condos next door to each other. The B Man absolutely adores his cousins and I can already see all the fun that will ensue. I am very excited to see what Little G is going to think of the ocean and the sand (The B Man has been to the beach before, when he was 2 so he's good with it all).

I am also eagerly anticipating some time with my husband where he is not going to work the next day or preparing to fly away. It will only be five days but I hope to spend each of them to the fullest, watching my boys and my nieces and nephew frolick in the water and just spending time together, making memories.

There are plans for dinners out and breakfasts in and nap times on the sand (in the shade of course!). There are plans to rest our bodies and minds. There are plans for much DVD watching on the way there and back. I mean we parents gotta stay sane, right?

And even if our "plans" fall through at least we will be together having fun and sharing time together.

I promise to post a picture of me (although I said I wouldn't until I lost some weight, which I have NOT done yet) in my sundress, if I end up actually wearing it of course.

I have at least one guest-poster (if anyone else would like to volunteer you can email me at ealguire {at} sbcglobal {dot} net) while I am gone so the blog won't get too lonely whilst I bask in the sun (with my SPF 75 of course!)

Wish me luck with the packing. There's one BIG suitcase and 4 of us...

Through the Lens - Assignment 2

In this second assignment for our photo workshop at From the Rubber Room, we learned about the white balance options on our camera. I must say I learned a lot this time. Before Hallie's tutorial and explanations I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA this was even on my camera. Now I do.

The assignment was to take a picture of the same thing outdoors at different times of the day with the "day light" option set. Here are the 3 photos I managed to get at morning, noon and evening. The color differences are really quite amazing to me. (please pay no attention to the wilting foliage in the one photo. it's really hot here these days...)

I am a little late in posting this and assignment 3 is already up. Off to see what we are up to next! : )

My Friend Friday

Well we're almost there - Daddy comes home this afternoon. I don't know why I am making such a big deal out of this. I know other woman do this all the time or even for months at a time while their husbands serve our country around the world (hello, Tranny Head). But you know, when you are used to your man coming home every night it can be kind of challenging.

Of course when he gets back he may throw a wrench in my now finely tuned machine. Yeah, right. Not much is "finely tuned " around here (well, except for our trips to Costco). It's a nice thought though...

We had a great time at the birthday party Wednesday and I have it on good authority that the birthday girl is quite enthralled with the gift The B Man
chose for her. Which was a "Beauty" Disney Princess dress-up outfit, by the way. Guess I'll have him give his Daddy some gift giving tips when the time comes... Oh, I jest!

Now can I just say that I am SO craving some chocolate chip cookies and seeing this post over at The Vintage Pearl did not help?! : ) It's really good that I don't actually have the semi-sweet chips in the house because if I did I would be whippin' some up and since I haven't worked out at all this week that wouldn't be so good. Don't worry, I will get back to it, it just wasn't a good week for that for several reasons...

Someone found my blog today by Googling "is it possible to have a mini heart attack?" Well, if they read my post from earlier this week I would think that I surely gave them the answer to that question. Google is SO helpful, isn't it?

Oh and several of you commented about the code "2319" and I guess I figured perhaps some of you might catch the reference. Apparently we are the only family (well ours and my brother's, who actually copied it first) that snagged that little nugget from "Monster's Inc." In the movie they use that code when a child comes through the door and crosses over to monster side. Guess I should have had y'all "guess the movie" on that one! But yeah, we use it for something else entirely! HA! Now just try to tell me you won't be using it now too...

These guys were pretty good this week, I have to say. But I know they can't wait to see their Daddy. And neither can I!

17 Blogs That I Think Are Pretty Cool

I have been given a couple of awards lately. Two in a row actually. And... one of them requires that I pass the love on to TEN bloggers and the other SEVEN. This is kind of hard to do but somehow I managed it. This is a pretty diversified list. I am nothing if not versatile. : )

Kathryn at Seeking Sanity presented me with this award. Thanks Kathryn and thanks for letting me see what life would be like if I had even one more boy! : ) I feel so honored that she thought of me. I mean really, it's like I am "Friends" back in the day on NBC. Ok. That's probably taking it a little too far...
I am required to pass this award on to 10 bloggers I consider "Friends"- like as well. So I present it to these lovely and deserving ladies:

Blairs Boys - I found this blog through my friend Kami and I love her scrapbooking layouts and well, she has 2 boys like me so it's pretty easy to relate to her!

McMommy Chronicles - She's probably already gotten this award. But I don't care, she's on my list too, so there! I just love her humor.

I Should Be Folding Laundry - I adore Beth's posts. This is a daily read.

Burgh Baby - Adorable daughter and a good daily dose of sarcasm. What more could you ask for?

On the Upside - Great mother with great stories.

June Cleaver Nirvana - she's close (geographically) and absolutely hilarious. Her Monday Potluck is not to be missed

Little Princess Chronicles - This lady is living life to the fullest with her 2 little girls. Plus, I like to read about what life would be like if I had 2 little princesses instead of princes. You know, just to get an idea. ; )

Adventures in Babywearing - Steph is pretty "famous" in the bloggy world but she still takes the time to respond to my comments and well, I just love her blog!

The Daily Grind - Another Steph! I feel a connection with her and her life. Not sure why but I do, so I keep reading. Hope you are having a good day Steph! : )

E & T Adventures - Elise is one of the sweetest people on the planet. The other side of the planet, that is. She's in Australia! I love reading about her sweet girl Sav and now baby Blake.

Phew! That as a lot of blogs! Ready for more?

Quirky gave me the Brilliant Award above. I love reading her blog because she says and does things that most of us aren't willing to admit on our blogs. : ) Go read her post about the stairwell. It's quite amusing and well, a little "quirky."

Here are the "rules" for this one.

Put the logo on your blog.

Add a link to the person who awarded you.

Nominate at least seven other blogs.

Add links to those blogs on your blog.

Leave a message for your nominee on their blogs.

I chose these blogs because I like either their photogrpahy, words or both. So in other words, they speak for themselves.

Now I am off to leave everyone a message. This could take a while...

Sweet & Stinky Boys

So the first day of our ENTIRE week as three (me being the one out-numbered) went pretty well.

We had lunch with Tim's grandparents and it was a lovely visit as usual. Every time I leave there I am just so happy about the relationship we all share with them. I never would have had the opportunity to even lay eyes on any one of my great-grandparents and I think it is SO extraordinary that my sons get to see and know their "G.G.s" as they grow up.

After lunch we went to Target and I only bought ONE more thing than what we needed. Yes folks, miracles do happen.

One of the things we "needed" was a gift for The B Man's little girl pal whose birthday party is Wednesday. I thought about going while he's at school but he's now at the age where he can help pick out the gifts and since this is a special friend of his I really wanted him to be included in the choice.

Now let me tell you this boy can push my buttons, oh yes he can but when he is sweet HE IS SWEET!

He knows the theme of the party is Disney Princesses (he only had me read and re-read her party invitation 5 kazillion times) and when we got to that aisle in the store he was so excited to get out of the cart and pick it out. He touched tea party sets and dolls and then he found "it." "I want this for her Mommy, I just know she will love it!!" I almost lost it right there in the middle of the pink and purple toy aisle (it doesn't help that my little friend is back this week). And I can tell you that item was in the cart in .9 seconds. I sure hope she likes it! : )

When it was about time to head for the check out Little G created a 2319 (code in our family for a poopy diaper) and I really thought they might escort us out it stunk so bad. And of course The B Man has to proclaim to the entire store that his brother "smells so BAD!!" That was a lovely moment. And this was right after The B Man also asked me why he can't ever buy the girl flip flops. I gotta tell you, I didn't have a good answer. Because you know they have 57 styles of girl ones to the 2 boy ones. I can understand why I he might think it's not so fair...

The day ended with an early meal for us all, 2 boys all bathed and then tucked in tight. Only 4 more to go...

**UPDATE- Go here for explanation of where "2319" came from, if you don't already know**

My Weekend, With A Mini Heart Attack In There To Keep Things Interesting.

We had a pretty good weekend. My wonderful husband let me scrapbook ALL day Saturday and since it was just up at my church (3 minutes away) I was able to come home for dinner and then go back. He took care of the boys ALL day while I got some scrappin' done! Wanna see?

Here's a layout I did of the strawberry picking we did earlier this year.

He also cooked all the meals this weekend (I know! He totally ROCKS!) and did laundry while I was out. Sorry ladies, he's mine, and you can't have him. : )
There was a very entertaining young lady (13 yrs. of age) there scrapping with her mother and I so wanted to kiss her when she guessed my age was 26 but when I told her I was actually 33 she said (and I quote) "If you were Jesus you'd be dead." The brownie points she gained went out the window and into the negatives. Children.

I sang at church yesterday morning and then after Little G's nap we were off to meet some friends from church at a local mini water park. It was quite hot yesterday so it was good to cool off in the pool. The B Man was able to show off his skills that he learned in swim lessons the last couple of weeks (money well spent) and Little G exhibited his fearlessness in the water several times. Let me expand on that a little.

I had a moment yesterday that may have been the scariest thing I have yet to experience as a parent. See, when The B Man was a baby he was fine with water as long as we were holding him. Little G couldn't care less if we are. He walked away from me several times in 2 feet of water. So, one of has to keep near him the entire time. Besides taking off in the water he also wanted to climb up the playscape area they had in the water and go down the slide. Let me again express how I am NOT used to this because The B Man would NEVER have done such a thing EVER at 14 months of age.

At one point I asked Tim to go get us some water to drink. He left and I was watching both boys in the water myself. Even though I feel much more comfortable about The B Man in the water after his lessons, I still wanted to make sure I knew where he was at any given moment. I turned my head from Little G (walking in front of me) to see where his older brother was and before I knew it G was going under this slide that I could not fit under so I had to go around to follow him. When I got to the other side he was under the water face down and I completely lost it as I grabbed him up. He coughed a couple of times and looked horribly stunned but was fine. After I started to cry my first inclination was that I was a horrible mother for not being right there and then my second was "why in the h*ll did the life guard that was standing 6 feet away continue to JUST stand there and do absolutely nothing??" Was she afraid she might mess up her beautifully coifed pony tail and get water on her sunglasses? She didn't even move our way after I got him out to make sure everything was fine. And I know she she saw us. The ONLY pardon I can give her is that there were a lot of people there but COME ON if that is what you hired to do, at least come over and make sure he's ok. Am I in the wrong here?

I mean I know I need to be responsible for my own child and he was only under water for a matter of seconds but if she's just gonna stand there and look pretty I don't see why she's there at all.

After I got over my mini heart-attack at the mini water park we were pretty much ready to go but Little G was ready for more and no worse off. It sure scared me though and the image of my little guy upside down in the water is truly heart-wrenching. So the moral of my story - please be safe with your kids and stay near them in the water because you may not be able to trust anyone else to help you if something goes awry.

In other news I am playing single parent all week this week so please pray for me that the boys "keep their cool" and that we have uneventful week. Oh and that my man gets home safely on Friday. And, if my posts become a little incoherent you'll know why...

BlogHop Party '08

Hi there! First off, thanks to Robin from Pensieve for hosting this great blog hop! And the cute button designed to go along with the party was created by none other than the lovely lady who prettied up my blog just a few months back, Karen at Simply Amusing Designs! (if you need a new design, check her out, she's great to work with!)

So, here it is the weekend of BlogHer '08 and I am somewhat bummed that I am not there (especially since it's in beautiful San Fran). I am however a strong believer in the saying, "Bloom where you are planted" and since I am planted right here in my little corner of the world that pretty much revolves around my 3 guys, I can only say that I am surely "blooming!" : )

I also believe in the saying, "There's always next year" and by next year at this time I will have been blogging for over 2 1/2 years! So... who knows what may be going on or where I may be going by then!

For those of you who've stopped by for the first time, I am Elaine and this blog just represents all the miss elaine-ous (!) things that pop in my mind and happen in my life (hence the blog name). I am mom to 2 wonderful little boys, who I refer to as The B Man (4) a nd Little G (1), and wife to my sweet and handsome Tim (oh and he's smart too!).

I love to shop, scrapbook and sing (I call it my Three S's) as well as spend time with friends and family and travel when I can. I also have just a little bit of an obsession with chocolate. I tend to make random lists alot because frankly, that's how my brain works. Here's a sampler from this past week.

Please stay for a minute and help me eat some of the strawberry cake left over from my hubby's birthday that was on Wednesday.
I am sorry for leftovers but I promise it's still quite yummy. If you would like the recipe please refer to the bakery aisle in your local grocery store and pick up the Duncan Hines strawberry cake mix and whipped vanilla icing. DE-LISH! ; )

Ok, have fun blog hoppin' this weekend and thanks for stoppin' by my place. I hope you enjoyed your visit and will come back again sometime soon. And as my mother would say, "Don't make yourself scarce."

Oh and if so inclined leave me a little tid-bit about yourself in the comments - I would love to get to know you better too! BYE! : )

The Story of How My Family Lied to me For Years

When I was growing up we had dogs. The first dog I remember (ok, don’t really remember him but have seen pictures, does that count?) was named Pepper and he was some sort of Dachshund mix. He died when I was three. Then we got Chester. He was a Beagle. Every.bit. a beagle. They bark a lot and he was NO exception. But we all loved him and he was supposedly my brother Chris’ dog but by the time he left this earth I am not sure the last time Chris had given him the time of day. Chester still out-lasted a few other dogs that we attained along the way, including my precious Cocoa (yes, the chocolate obsession started early).

Cocoa was a brown (big surprise!) mix of Doberman and Dachshund (supposedly) and was one the most nimble animals I have ever seen. He loved to run and chase squirrels, while aging Chester just kinda laid there on our patio watching him and barked a few times, cheering him on I guess. He was a spry one that Cocoa and I thought he was the coolest dog ever. He even taught himself to scale our 7-foot fence. We would go to the ball field across from our house and play “fetch” and he would just run and play like crazy. We had a lot of fun together and I became quite attached to my new friend.

The first summer we had Cocoa we took his puppy self on vacation with us to the beach. He had the cutest little puppy face and even though he punctured one of my favorite floaties with his sharp little claws, I just had to forgive him. I mean who could resist a cute such a face? I thought it was so cool that we got to take our dog with us on vacation because we had never done that before. I was ten, things like this were cool. Gimme a break.

We didn’t have Cocoa very long before there was an accident and he went on to doggie heaven. I remember that day very clearly. My mother picked me up from dance class and as we pulled into the driveway she told me that she had some sad news. I was a little freaked wondering what she was going to tell me. That was when she told me that Cocoa had gotten out of the backyard and been hit by a car and died. And so the lies began…

Now, fast forward oh… about 12 years and we are out to breakfast with my boyfriend (now husband), my brother and his wife and my parents. We are having fun and many laughs reminiscing about the dogs in our family and at one point my mother says, “Yeah, and then there was Cocoa who hung himself on the fence.” I think my eyes popped out of my head and my heart stopped. “HE WHAT??!?!,” I exclaimed. “You told me that he had been hit by a car.” There was silence at the table until my boyfriend (now husband) started laughing. Thanks honey. The rest of the meal was my mother trying to explain how she did not want to have to tell me that he died that way and so she and Dad agreed to fabricate the story just a little. She was trying to protect the innocent (a.k.a Me). See Cocoa had been tied up so that he wouldn’t scale the fence again and he decided he was going to try anyway. Yep, that’s what really happened.

Later that evening another one of my brothers walked into my parent’s house and said, “Heard you found out about Cocoa.” And one of my sister-in-laws called to say that she’d known the truth all along. My ENTIRE family had been lying to me for years, even the newbies. Heart-wrenching. I think even some of my nieces and nephews knew the truth before me.

So now, as a parent myself, I wonder what I would have done if faced with the same situation. I think I would have probably told my kid the truth but who knows, I have never been there. I still like to tease my parents about lying to me and if one of my brothers is around when I do, they just start cracking up. I bet when my parents decided to “fib” a little that day they had no idea that this story would become a family legacy. Yep, that’s right, someday I will tell my boys about this. I mean everyone in the family might as well know, right?

Again I Present You With My Randomness

Okay, it's another day of randomness. So y'all prepare yourselves as I skip around my life - a lot. 1...2...3... Go!

1. I don't know who is more addicted to the Quaker Simple Harvest "all natural" dark chocolate chunk granola bars (boy that is a mouthful - literally!) - me or the 4-year old.

2. The same above mentioned 4-year-old finally jumped off of the side of the pool into the water by himself last night! I am so proud!!

3. I am now in count-down mode until my vacation in 2 weeks - actually we leave our house in 13 days and some hours. Like I said, counting down...

4. I have 375 photo prints on the way to my house. That's a lot of scrapbooking that I can no longer procrasinate on. It was nice knowing you bloggy friends...

5. Husband is going to be OOT on business ALL week next week. Someone hand me my largest glass for wine.

\6. I have a vine/plant thingy that my mother gave me a few years ago that I left out in freezing temps over the winter and was sure it was dead. Then Mom pointed out a "speck" of green on it during one of her visits in the Spring and I was elated. But she said it probably wouldn't bloom this year. I am glad her green thumb was wrong this one time - it just produced it's first beautiful pink flower of many to come!

7. Why is it that every place I go with the 14-month old who is obsessed with anything round-shaped, they must have balloons hanging from something? The grocery store, the "chicken store" (a.k.a Chick Fil A), etc. Even at The B Man's summer school they made yarn balloons and hung them from the ceiling. So the chorus of my life is "DA BAH, DA BAH, DA BAH" over and over and over again...

8. I adore pretty much everyone that is left on SYTYCD. How will America ever choose a winner? I am pretty stoked that Will and Katie danced together last night though. Love them as partners!

9. I am feeling pretty enlightened by the bible study that I am doing with Tracy, Natalie, Jennifer, Michelle and Claudia. We are just now really getting into the "meat" of it and it's good. (that's right, I linked to you Claudia - now that means you have to get that blog REALLY goin'!)

10. Little G is almost weaned. He's down to 0-1 nursing sessions a day. It's so very bittersweet.

11. I wish I could eat birthday cake every day. With a side of chocolate of course.

Last (but NOT least!) If you ARE NOT going to BlogHer and you read this post, please leave me a comment. I think most of the ladies who are going have already left anyway and aren't necessarily blog-hopping so that means YOU need to leave a comment at my little pity party here, k? Mwah!

It's My Man's Birthday!

So, I am sitting here trying to figure out what I am going to write to my husband on his 34th birthday.

Well, today I just want him to know these things that are in my heart:

I want to thank him for always supporting me in whatever I have wanted or needed to do for myself and our family. He used to listen when I complained about my job outside of the home and he still listens when I complain about my job inside the home ; ). And... he gives me a much needed break when he knows that I need one.

Thanks Honey, I would be insane without you.

I want him to know that the love I feel for him grows every day as I see him with our boys and when I lay down next to him at night. And when he cooks his wonderful breakfasts and takes care of me when I am sick.

Oh yes my dear Tim, I would starve before lunch if it wasn't for you (at least on Satrudays!)

I want him to see me coming towards him with open arms and hopefully he can feel that my heart is full of love and understanding and constant admiration for the wonderful father and husband that he has become.

Yes my sweet man, I admire you so much.

I want him to remember that I am beside him as he turns 41 and 56 and 78, etc. and that I will never leave his side, just as I promised almost 9 years ago.

A promise is a promise my love!

I hope you have a wonderful day today Tim. I love you so very much. The boys and I will have some presents and strawberry cake waiting for you when you get home. Happy Birthday my Ber!

And... he shares his birthday with my parents' wedding anniversary. So, Happy 48th (!) Anniversary Mom & Dad!

Whoa, Those Are Some Messy Babies!

I decided to participate in the Dirty Baby Carnival over at Boys Rule My Life partly because Becky linked to me last week when she announced her plan to do this and well, I've got some pretty cute pics of my messy boys!

I doubt that any of you will be suprised that all of these pictures involve food. And go ahead and enjoy the fact that YOU didn't have to clean up after them.

I Really "Meme" It

I have to do this meme before the Summer is out. We've got plenty of time left yet, right? I mean I haven't even been on vacation yet! But still, I need to do this one so my "tagees" can do it too! : )

iheartchocolate tagged me for this one:

Here are the rules: (because yes, there are always rules!)
Instructions: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Stay - Lisa Loeb (been listening to her "Tails" CD in the car)

2. Viva La Vida - Cold Play

3. Big Rock Candy Mountain - Lisa Loeb's/Elizabeth Mitchell's kids album that is completely wonderful - "Catch the Moon"

4. Maroon 5 (enough said)

5. Realize - Colby Calais

6. Say What you Need to Say - John Mayer (from "The Bucket List")

7. S-M-I-L-E (from The B Man's favorite CD right now, "Silly Songs") to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It's his favorite so I hear it A LOT right now.

I wanna know what these peeps are listening to:

Bren

McMommy

nicole

Brittany

Amanda

Nicki

Christina

That's all for today. Have a great one.

Hubby's birthday is tomorrow and I have yet to buy a present (or two). It's ok. He knows. I am such a slacker. Guess I know what the boys and I are doin' later today...

Best Shot Monday - My Little Artiste

I never can resist the Dollar Spot at Target. By the time I weave through the 2 aisles I have usually added another $5 or so to my Target tab. They really know how to get you, don't they?

One day I bought The B Man some "crafty" things from there, including foam letters, pipe cleaners, pom poms and a water color paint set - for a $1. I am sure you can imagine how great those paints were (or were NOT). Anyway, he loved them so much that I thought I would go ahead and by him the real thing, the Crayola water color set that every kid in America (or any country for that matter) should certainly have. Since then he's been a paintin' fool AND... I have pictures to prove it!

I think the second one is my best shot. I just love the look of concentration on his face.

So, anyone need some art for their refigerator? Oh I know, I know... you all have tons of our own too.

Have a great Monday everyone and mosey on over to Mother May I for more best shots!
