Momma Said There'd Be Days Like This

So yeah....uh... yesterday wasn't exactly the best of days. Want proof? M'kay.

That is (or was) the front end of my vehicle. And yes, it was my fault. And yes again, all three kids (including the one I baby-sit) were in the car. It's okay, everyone was fine and the kids barely even knew what happened. And no, I did not do the duct- taping job. No, that would be the kind gentleman that I hit. He just happened to have some in his massive F-150 that I apparently wanted to pick a fight with. Take a wild guess who won.

Anyway, I spent most of the day feeling badly about this, hashing out how quickly I can get it fixed and get a rental to drive the kids to and from wherever this week, and coping with an overwhelmingly grumpy toddler who between teething and on and off fever/rash may be more pathetic than Brittany Spears at this point. (did I just say that out loud?) But in a totally different way of course. Although now she seems to be having a comeback. But I digress...

Oh and then there was the 4-yr old (boy!) that wanted SOOOO badly to be the little blond girl in a pink dress "place-holder" girl on Chutes & Ladders and of course so did Anna. So when I suggested to him that she take that one it was game on. Trantrum of all tantrums people. I just couldn't win.

Tim leaves town again today so of course this is just perfect timing. I'm good like that.

So, it was a pretty bad day as was acknowledged by all, but nonetheless I seem to always get a reminder that no matter what happens I have a beautiful life. Like last night when I succumed to a second snuggle and The B Man groggily told me he loved me. And, as he began to drift off he said, "It's okay Mommy. Every day is a new tomorrow."

Thank God he's right.

  2. Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear about your fender bender. I'm totally laughing at the duct-tape job. I just can't help it. How nice of your victim to help you tape your car back together.

So glad everyone's okay and good luck with the insurance company and rental car thing.

    Hope tomorrow's a better day ;)

  3. Oh no!! I'm so glad nobody was hurt. It sounds like the guy you hit was very nice & helpful - it would have been a lot worse if he'd been grumpy & abusive.

"It's okay Mommy. Every day is a new tomorrow." - how cute is that?!

  4. Oh my goodness dear. I am so so sorry. The car, is too cute actually. I am sure that you want to get it fixed ASAP, but think of all the character your car has right now!

Trying real hard to make you feel better. :) Maybe I should just send you a chocolate/carmel apple to make you feel better.

    Hang in there!

  7. So glad that you and the three kids were fine after everything (at least physically you were). It is unbelievable how cars just do not handle even little accidents anymore. I truly hope your insurance company is good. When we were hit by a car and flipped across 5 lanes of traffic we received a rental. The only reason we got one was the person who hit us had it on his policy. Needless to say that day we changed our plan to include it as well (we did not realize it was missing).

Lots of hugs to you with your hubby's trip again.

  9. Do you have the book, "Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day?" If not, you need it. My aunt sent us a copy after our third boy was born, there are three boys in the family. It was already a favorite of ours.

And the ends goes something like this.."Mom says somedays are like that, even in Australia."

You must go get this book. It is so cute.

oops, sorry. Meant to say, sorry you had such a bad day. But B man is right, everyday is a new tomorrow.

  20. That totally sucks, but I am glad noone was hurt. Oh- the duct tape? CLASSIC. I once dated a guy (briefly) who couldn't afd to fix his headlight- it's hanging by a string literally. so he just duct taped the head light back to his car. Too cool, huh?

don't beat yourself up, it happens to everyone, the great thing is that it was minor in the grand scheme of things. And the duct tape? AWESOME!

  29. OH Elaine...so sorry about your day. That does totally suck but the duct tape job is priceless. I would have never thought of that. Remind me to tell you about the last car accident I was in. It was the day I found out I was pregnant with Evan. Anyways, I hope tomorrow is better!

  30. I fail to see why you can't rock the duct tape look for a while, that's hot! Glad you guys are okay... oh and how long have you been sitting this girl? You're already putting her in harms way! I wouldn't trust you as far as I could throw you ;)

  31. Oh. My. Gawd. Ellie May, get out of the truck! That is so funny-so glad all is well and no one got hurt. I may be getting a patient this week in A and I will be on the look out for you. You won't be hard to miss!!!

  33. How funny that he had duct tape in his truck! Only in Texas, huh?

Glad you and your special passengers are okay!

  34. Oh no!! I'm glad every one is OK, that is what's most important. Your little guy is right - every day is a new day. What a wise thing to say at his age.

  35. Oh no what a drag!

I'm so sorry this happened but I love your attitude about it - S**t happens - life is good.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Poor Girlie. So sorry.

Ya know what though? It makes us really appreciate the days we DON'T crash the car?! We can always say on a bad day now, "at least I didn't..." God is good, you all are fine.

Being a mom is hard work and no one seems to believe us. It's frustrating. Tantrums stink.

(sorry I have been gone for a while..but I'd never leave you)

  37. I'm so sorry about the accident - but I have to admit. Duct taping your car together? That is priceless.

    I approve.
