So, my name is Elaine. You may have guessed that from the blog title. Or not. Either way, that’s my name.
This space for sharing and writing has been around since November of 2006. Back then I started blogging as a means to keep family and friends updated on the life of my family while I was pregnant with my second son. When I first started I had an email list of people I sent the post links to – my how things have changed! This space has since evolved into a place to share my love of writing and photography, in addition to my life story. Thankfully, it has also been the avenue by which I have made some really amazing friends!
I currently live in Louisiana’s Cajun country but I am a true Texan at heart. At the end of 2015 my life changed dramatically when I separated from and later divorced my kids’ father. In 2016 I met my current husband and in July of 2019 we married (see photo above!) I am now the mom of five, which includes my two bonus kids. I work full time as an office manager at a small engineering firm and the kids just keep getting older and taller!
Other hobbies I still enjoy are writing, photography, decorating my home, baking, being outside, shopping (online and off) and traveling and being with family.

Another thing I am proud of, besides my amazing kids, is co-producing the Listen To Your Mother Show in Southeast TX! I also read in the 2014 show… See? I read in the 2015 show as well but unfortunately technical difficulties occurred and my story was not recorded. So, please watch this one! 🙂
I have also written for Scary Mommy, Bon Bon Break, Mamalode and had an essay go kind of wild, both here on the blog and on The Huffington Post, back in March of 2015, about what I’ve learned by 40 years of age. I also have an essay published in the third volume of “Precipice” and an essay in the anthology, “Only Trollops Shave Above the Knee” about something my sweet mother taught me and another one in the forthcoming “I’m So Glad They Told Me” through The HerStories Project. (you can see a list of all of my other writing here). I am a recipient of a BlogHer Voices of the Year writing award in both 2016 and 2017.
Plus, I dabble in photography for others on occasion as well (see photography tab at the top).
Basically WORDS + PICTURES = LIFE as far as I am concerned.
